The Annual Dinner

By Hunessa Louis

Coming up in May we at MCAEC are going to have an annual dinner at the Copley Hotel in downtown Boston. Every year Mother Caroline Academy has a dinner at a huge beautiful place where we all come together and we have a guest speaker which last year was Zakiya Lewis (Ms Cheryl’s daughter). There were also things auctioned off (which is like things were for sale) and I’m sure that they were made in art. They were also very beautiful. Chairs, small tables, Red Sox Tickets, and student artwork were auctioned off. The students did an amazing entrance with matching clothes and different flags from other countries, just magnificent. By the way there were Shirley Temples but at the time the students had to use tickets (they only had 2) so use them wisely if we do get tickets. (To get back to subject) The ballroom was decorated very nicely and was extremely gorgeous.

I’m going to interview the people who set up and prepare for the annual dinner, Dulce Depina and Ms Julie,

How long before the Annual Dinner do you guys prepare for it?

Miss Julie said that they usually prepare for the dinner at least five months before.

Is it difficult?

Ms Julie and Ms Depina said that it is both fun and difficult because they get to work with the students and learn about the families.

How many people are usually there?

Ms Julie answered that there are usually 300- 400 people there each year.

How do you choose the guest speaker?

They both said that they choose their guest speaker by word of mouth or suggestions or close connections to the school.

If you want to know more about the annual dinner then you’ll just have to experience it and know the fun.
