Soccer Updates

Yaraluz

Here is the soccer update. I interviewed some players and here it is….

On there first soccer game, Savannah, Amber, and Beatrice were very excited for the game.

Savannah thinks that “the other team is going to win, but hopefully we would win.” Amber says “we might have a slight chance of winning, and Beatrice says “The other team straight up other team.”

Savannah, Amber, and Beatrice say that they are going to have fun, but Beatrice is not sure about it.

Savannah says “Yes, she is going to play fair. Amber also says the same answer and Beatrice well, she says “No, because Epiphany is aggressive.” And this was only when the game had not even started.

Know this is at the end of the game…. The score was

Zero to two. Ephephiny won.

Savannah had fun, Amber had fun, and Beatrice had fun. The all had F.U.N = FUN J J J J

Savannah says “No, I did not make any goals.” Amber says “umm no, and Beatrice says “No.”

Well that’s it for now come back next time to check out more lovely articles from the 6th grade.

Halloween Recap!

By Christine

A Brief Halloween History:

(Info taken from http://www.rexanne.com/hwn-facts.html)

- Halloween, referred to as All Hallows Eve, was originally a pagan holiday in which they honored the dead. It was celebrated on October 31 since this was the last day of the Celtic calendar. The celebration dates back some 2,000 years.

- The ancient Celts thought that spirits and ghosts wondered the streets on all Hallows Eve so they began wearing masks and costumes in order to not be recognized as human.

- The jack-o-lantern tradition comes from an old Irish folk tale about a man named Stingy Jack. It was said that he was unable to get into heaven and was turned away from the devil because of his tricky ways. So he set off to wander the world looking for a resting place. For light, Stingy Jack used a burning coal ember in a hollowed out turnip. When the Irish immigrated to the U.S. during the Great Potato Famine of 1845-1850, they found that turnips were not as readily available like they were in the homeland. So they started carving pumpkins as a replacement for their tradition.

- On Halloween, Irish peasants would beg the rich for food. For those that refused, they would play a practical joke. So, in an effort to avoid being tricked, the rich would hand out cookies, candy, and fruit – a practice that morphed into trick-or-treating today.

Fun Facts about Halloween Edibles

- Of all the candy sold annually, one quarter of it is sold during Halloween time (September – November 10) making it the sweetest holiday of the year.
- Tootsie Rolls were the first wrapped penny candy in America
- The number one candy of choice for Halloween is Snickers
- There are an estimated 106 million potential treat-or-treat stops

Introduction: Hey, Hey, Hey it’s fat pumpkin! Did you go trick or treating? Did you see me on your doorstep? Who did you go trick or treating with? Did you have fun? Well, I got to see a lot of kids! How about you?

Interviewer: Christine

Interviewee: Desiree

Q: What did you do for Halloween?

A: “Well, I was Mrs. Krueger (Freddy Krueger’s wife) and I went trick or treating with my family and friends. While trick or treating, I was hoping I could get a lot of candy so I could have it for at least three or four weeks. (I’ll be so hyper!)” says MCA student Desiree.

Q: Were you excited and WHY?

A: “Yes I was excited because it’s like the first actual holiday celebration.” says MCA student Desiree.

Opinions Section

In the past few weeks I have been going around school and asking questions about subjects that are both academic and fun questions. I’ve surveyed more than 2/3 of the school because some people didn’t want to participate. I’ve been surprised with the results that came up.

The first question I asked everyone was Twilight vs. Harry Potter. The majority of the students in the school voted that Twilight was better and it beat Harry Potter by a landslide. But there are people who don’t like any of these series because there were more people who voted for none than there were that voted for Harry Potter.

The next question I asked was what students prefer Laptops vs. Desktops. Mostly everyone in the school voted for laptops except for two people and I guess everyone likes electronics because nobody said they liked neither. Student Government vs. None the polls were pretty close but majority rules and people prefer student government as opposed to none.

Another question I asked the student body was if they’d prefer a Dress code vs. Uniform. Dress code won by an overwhelming number. Other people in the school think that it is a mix between them both, because a uniform makes dressing for school easier.

Last but not least I’ve asked another question that I personally think is the best out of all questions. On a lighter note I asked the student body which of these they were Team Edward vs. Team Jacob, Jacob won this poll by a lot while quite a lot of people voted neither! Some people think they are both pathetic!

Well there you have it folks - keep tuning into this blogspot for more MCA news and inputs!

Halloween Movie Review

Yo what’s up homies! Well I’m chillin’ right now and I want to tell you about this new movie I just watched about a week ago. The movie I watched was "The Nightmare On Elm Street" which is also known as the new Freddy Krueger film. The movie was about how a killer named Freddy Krueger came in people’s dreams and kill them. It’s up to at least two people to kill. I’m not going to tell you the ending because hopefully you will find it out for yourself. Another movie that is a Halloween movie is "Hokus Pocus" and it’s about these three witches and they have to eat all the kid’s souls before midnight or else they’ll vanish. This is also a great movie to watch.

Now since you know some of the new Halloween movies, you should watch them. I’ll write again soon to share more book and movie recommendations. If you already watched these movies, or have read any really good books lately, comment on the article and tell me your thoughts!

Fashion Corner

by Deja

Are you tired of the boring uniform or the same old, same old? Well now all you have to do is accessorize, that’s right. You want to know why it’s so easy to do. Well… black and white go with everything, and you have black shoes on. Don’t forget to stay warm when it storms. So just throw on a pair of winter boots and you look stylish! And when there’s a breeze from the seas, cover them knees, wear colorful stockings or long socks that make you stand out and that make you who you are, and then you’ll look hip. And when those new style senses kick in, just feel free to be creative. And for activities, be breezy!

What will you be for Halloween?
Mwahahahahahu

Movie and Book Corner

By Desiree

My article is about books and movies. I interviewed two people from each grade to see what they all think about movies and books, and if they like to watch movies more than read. Or what kind of movies and books they like and see how they are different than each other or are the same. Get ready to find out my discoveries! This will also include different books you could pick from that you should read.

Some of the interview questions were what’s your favorite book? How did you like it? who’s your favorite character? why do you like him/her? what other books do you want to read? Also who showed you this book? what’s the book about? does it remind you of anything in your life? what’s your favorite part of the book? and what other books are you interested in?

One girl named Amy said her favorite book was Absolutely Normal Chaos. She said it was good, awesome, and interesting. Her favorite character was Maggie because she thinks she was a cool girl and that she sound interesting and fun. The teacher also showed her this book. And the book is about this girl named Mary Lou is writing in her journal about what she did over the summer. This book also reminds her of chaos. Her favorite part was when the family was talking to each other. The other book she liked was Number The Stars. And last but not least her favorite movie is School Girls.

Even though you might not like reading, keep in touch because there are good books such as Twilight, Harry Potter, and Doll House Murders next!
