Selena Gomez was born on July 22nd, 1992, Grade Prairie, Texas. She is of Mexican American and Italian decent. She is Catholic. Her parents divorced when she was 5 years of age, and was raised by her mother. In 2006, her parents remarried. She is named after the Tejano singer Selena.
Selena began her acting career when she was 7, playing Gianna on Barney & Friends. She also had a minor role in Spy Kids 3D: Game Over.
In 2004, Disney Channel discovered Selena in a nationwide scouting. She appeared in an episode of The Suite of Zack and Cody, and had a reoccurring role on Hannah Montana, from seasons two to three.
In early of 2007, Selena auditioned for Disney’s newest comedy series, Wizards of Waverly Place, and got the role as one of the main characters, Alex Russo. The premiere of the show gained an audience of 5.9 million, and the show has become successful ever since, having 4 seasons.
In 2008, Selena had the main role in the movie Another Cinderella Story, a sequel to the 2004 film starring Hilary Duff. In that same year, Lacey Rose of Forbes Magazine ranked Selena at #5 on the Eight Hot Kid Stars to Watch list.
In 2009, Selena had one of the lead roles in the movie Ramona and Beezus. In that same year, after starring in the Disney Channel Original Movie Princess Protection Program, she starred in Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie, which gathered an audience of 11.4 million, making the movie the 2nd most viewed DCOM movie since High School Musical 2.
She even has released 3 albums: “Kiss and Tell”, “A Year Without Rain,” and her newest album, “When the Sun Goes Down.” “When the Sun goes Down” has 2 singles: “Love You Like a Love Song” (An amazing electro pop song,) and “Who Says”, a very inspiring song!
Selena Gomez is amazing, even though she’s dating Justin Beiber (Eww). She’s inspiring, loving, and caring.
